   you read my mind; I’m cuddling my cat. I also moved my wall mirror so I can’t see it from my bed. I’m thinking a good dose of Cracked, maybe some TF2 and then bed. Nothing takes my mind off my body like lighting people on fire!

   I have a lot of full-wall mirrors in my house as well. My dining room has full-wall mirror like in the picture. It actually comes in handy in the rare cases when you have to practice a dance, or just want to see what it looks like when you walk in your new dress. The full-mirror at the end of the hallway freaks guests out when they come in for the first time. They think the hallway is longer than it really is, not realizing that they can see themselves in the reflection.

   I absolutely adore this poem (I know that has no relevance to your question, but I felt compelled to share that).

   Your interpretation of the poem is very effective. I think you've covered the main themes and ideas. So whatever else I can come up with is just an addition that may or may not be of some use to you.

   Usually when I analyse a poem I analyse every word that has some effect. The word "silver" has a double connotation- it describes both the mirror and how the narrator resembles it in her lack of bias. "Silver" also brings to mind the idea of old age (silver hair), and hence wisdom, deeper perception, etc, themes that are reiterated in the second stanza, with the image of the "old woman" and the lake itself, which, as you said, has more depth (literally and figuratively) than the mirror. Thus there is a clear progression of ideas from the first to the second stanza. The overall idea is of increasing depth/perspicacity/wisdom.

   The image of "swallowing" always struck me as a little harsh. It kind of presents a painful image (like the swallowing of something poisonous or disagreeable), perhaps a reflection of Plath's inner turmoil (you can refer to her eventual suicide).
   Four-cornered is also a very sharp image- it describes both the mirror and harsh reality, that prods and pricks at a person, like a knife.

   In the first stanza, the fact that the mirror often meditates oin the opposite wall presents the idea that the "woman" or the narrator, etc, does not spend enough time in introspection, or analysing the inner turmoil (the mirror is not used enough). Instead, the image presented is of something "pink, with speckles", rather frivolous and superficial when compared to the idea of true introspection. But as the woman/narrator has not truly analysed herself in so long, she has come to believe that this frivolousness is "a part of my heart", and that there is nothing deeper within her. The "wall" can be seen as symbolic of a metaphorical wall that divides the woman/narrator from her inner self, and prevents her from analysing her inner self. In the second stanza, there is no wall, and this symbolises how the woman/narrator is gradually aging and becoming wiser, more inclined towards introspection/ accepting her inner self. In the second stanza, the woman "reaches for what she really is". But sometimes she still does turn to those "liars", the "candles or the moon". But gradually she visits the lake more and more often, "comes and goes". Instead of the "candles of the moon" replacing the darkness with their lies, it is her own face (symbolic of her own true nature/ inner self) that replaces the darkness (the darkness is symbolic of confusion, the unknown, something that hinders perception)- she is coming to a realisation of her true self, gradually.

   Something like that I guess.

   Ok, I dunno if that makes ANY sense, but I really hope that helps you a little.

    Yeah, stop trying to pull the mirrors off the wall, you have obviously weakened the mount causing it to fall.
