What happens if an engine swallows a rubber O ring into the cylinder?
Dropped a small rubber O ring off a fuel injector into the intake port and can NOT locate it. Have tried everything. Large vacuum cleaner, fished for it with wire. Looked with mirror and light - nothing! The engine has NOT been cranked or turned yet. This is on a VW VR6 12 valve engine.
What if the only alternative is to start it up and see what happens? Would this small rubber o-ring cause engine/cylinder/piston damage, or would it just finally get smashed up and spit out the exhaust valve without incident?
This has become a real pain..... The only other opiton involves HOURS of disassembly and even then no guaranted of locating it.
you really don't have to worry too much about that one,i did this before and it will blow it out the exhaust system ,it usually burns it up and there's nothing left of it at all,but it shouldn't hurt it,soft rubber wont damage anything,it will just eventually spit it back out,if it was a bolt it would be a lot different, but i think your ok on this one, good luck with it,hope this helps.

Port Mirror vs. Network Tap

Once you determine which, if any, adapters you need, and have the necessary cable to reach from your Mac to the HDTV, the key is to turn off both the HDTV and the Mac. The connect the cable between the Mac and the HDTV if you haven't already, then turn on your MBP.
Let me explain:
Turn the HDTV back on first. It doesn't need to be set to the connection the Mac is on, but it must be powered up first, so that when it boots, your Mac can recognize the TV and the resolution it needs. Once the HDTV is powered up, turn on the Mac.
Your Mac should recognize the format and resolution of the TV, and automatically select the native resolution of the TV for running the video. In a few seconds, you should see the Mac desktop on the HDTV.
Over or Underscan
You may notice that the Mac's desktop appears to be slightly larger than the HDTV's screen (its edges are cut off); this is called overscan. Or, you may notice that the desktop doesn't occupy all of the HDTV's screen real estate (there are dark areas around the edges); this is called underscan.
You can usually correct either issue by making adjustments on the HDTV. Check the HDTV's manual for information on making scan-related adjustments. They may be called overscan, underscan, dot-by-dot, or pixel-by-pixel. If your HDTV has a dot-by-dot or pixel-by-pixel capability, give this a try; it should eliminate any over or underscan issues. Some HDTVs only offer these special scan controls on specific inputs, so be sure to connect to the corresponding input on your HDTV.
Time to Watch a Movie
Once you have your Mac and HDTV working together, it's time to kick back and watch a video from your Mac. Be sure to check out the QuickTime HD trailers for a sense of what HD and your Mac is capable of. Enjoy!
If you still have problems, try Yahooing or going to a Apple store to speak to a Mac Genius or Geek Squad at Best Buy. This should not too hard.
The Good thing is you have a DVI port. One of the stupid things Apple did with its new MBP was downgrade the video port to a Mini-DVI. It works like crap. The old MBP work better for TVs. Apple is trying to get customers to use their Mac TV.
Try this and if you have problems, write back. I have a MBP and no problems hooking it up to my friends HDTV and regular TVs
I hope this helps you.
Just found that the Debian mirror to use for Intel core2duo processor based systems is amd64!
Standard electrical tape demon entering through mirror portal. Just call Constantine. John Constantine.
i didnt have enough patience to read the first sentence.
I still do network security, but I try not to tell anyone about it. Keep it on the down-low, ok?I really like how you brought the network security down to only the basics:1) Domain segmentation. Hell yes. Having a separate AD forest for servers and workstations is very important (the only servers in the workstation forest should be the ones that service the workstations, not the ones that service other “services” that are needed by the domain). Using separate AD forests for totally separate networks that fall under the auspices of SOX or PCI is also very smart — if only to reduce the scope of these network alone2) Router ACLs. Yes, these are great wins, especially if they are reflexive and work like stateful firewall rules (then what do you need a firewall for?). I have worked in many environments where router ACLs were used instead of firewalls and loved it3) IPSec. I'm iffy on this subject. IPSec, SSL VPN, and others all have different kinds of problems. I guess IPSec can be useful, but I'd rather use OpenVPN for my personal use, and even in small corporate environments. I guess confidentiality and authentication are important issues to address — and IPSec and/or SSL VPN does meet them. But it's very smart to make sure you're using the right products with the right configurations. It can be very tricky to get one or the other right4) VLANs. Wireless VLANs, pVLAN's, VACL's — oh man, I love LAN security… especially Cisco DAI and all of the various little configuration knobs. This stuff is totally for geeks, but it would be so much better with PKI and proper SSL/TLS. Let me blow both #3 and #4 out of the water by saying that I would prefer that everything be wrapped in SSL/TLS and then we don't need this stuff. Of course, SSL/TLS can have issues, but I think it's easier and doesn't require an uber-geekgod-expert in VPN or LAN security to implement correctly5) Firewalls, IPS, IDS, UTM, et al. This is where I start to say, “oh come on now, do you really need to spend $2M on this junk?”. It's so 1999. Come on — Palo Alto Networks, puh-lease. “Let's show the world how much firewalls suck — buy our firewall!”. I lost track of firewall technology before Netscreen came on the scene. This stuff was incredibly useful between 1996 and 2001, and then it stopped being as useful as anyone thought it was. SYN attacks, Smurf, TCP/UDP amplification attacks, Teardrop, Ping-of-death, etc — all of these attacks were software problems just like web application software weaknesses today. However, all of the old DoS/DDoS attacks worked against weaknesses in network stacks (which is software, by the way), so it made sense to block them at the network layer. Around 1998, SQL injection came on the scene and started to change things, and by 2001 XSS popped around to make phishing scams twice-as-nice for adversaries. Once these techniques caught on, brute-force authentication and zero-day server-side exploits with IDS evasion became boring in comparison. Oh, by the way, never bring up WAF's around me if you can help it. The rants will be tens-times-as-longAlso, Bluecoat seems to be a waste of money in many scenarios, although I do like the idea of proxies being used for these purposes even if I know plenty of ways around them (SSH through SSL with SOCKS? UDP/TCP hole punching, pivot bouncing, etc). Maybe a better choice would be Squid.Oh dood, and while IDS does have its uses even today (although maybe not quite as cool as it once was), I totally dig being able to drop some tcpdump or Ethereal action with either taps or mirror ports (i.e. {ER|R}SPAN). It's still kind of 2003 stuff though…

These thoughts and memories can easily be dismissed as "tricks of the mind", but the more you fixate on them, the longer they will influence your behavior. Do you have an obsessive disorders? I suspect a psychologist may be able to identify some issues for you to work on.

Blue Book Private Party Value
Private Party Value is what a buyer can expect to pay when buying a used car from a private party. The Private Party Value assumes the vehicle is sold "As Is" and carries no warranty (other than the continuing factory warranty). The final sale price may vary depending on the vehicle's actual condition and local market conditions. This value may also be used to derive Fair Market Value for insurance and vehicle donation purposes.
Vehicle Condition Ratings Check Vehicle Title History Excellent
$875
"Excellent" condition means that the vehicle looks new, is in excellent mechanical condition and needs no reconditioning. This vehicle has never had any paint or body work and is free of rust. The vehicle has a clean title history and will pass a smog and safety inspection. The engine compartment is clean, with no fluid leaks and is free of any wear or visible defects. The vehicle also has complete and verifiable service records. Less than 5% of all used vehicles fall into this category.
Good
$725
"Good" condition means that the vehicle is free of any major defects. This vehicle has a clean title history, the paint, body and interior have only minor (if any) blemishes, and there are no major mechanical problems. There should be little or no rust on this vehicle. The tires match and have substantial tread wear left. A "good" vehicle will need some reconditioning to be sold at retail. Most consumer owned vehicles fall into this category.
Fair
$450
"Fair" condition means that the vehicle has some mechanical or cosmetic defects and needs servicing but is still in reasonable running condition. This vehicle has a clean title history, the paint, body and/or interior need work performed by a professional. The tires may need to be replaced. There may be some repairable rust damage.
Poor
N/A
"Poor" condition means that the vehicle has severe mechanical and/or cosmetic defects and is in poor running condition. The vehicle may have problems that cannot be readily fixed such as a damaged frame or a rusted-through body. A vehicle with a branded title (salvage, flood, etc.) or unsubstantiated mileage is considered "poor." A vehicle in poor condition may require an independent appraisal to determine its value. Kelley Blue Book does not attempt to report a value on a "poor" vehicle because the value of cars in this category varies greatly.

i thinks it good for the price but u have to be very careful. You may pay more money on fixing the car than you paid actually for the car.The most important thing is that you like the car and you get where you need to go without any danger.
