   Carol Kemery or Kathy Carroll? (sorry, I was confused) .

   I wish I knew, thus far, how to antique mirrors. I have the kit and great plans to cross it off my list in '09 but never found the free time to play… it has been bumped to my '10 list. From what I've heard about the antiqueing process, it isn't a simple recipe that is key(the 'how to' is probably stated on the kit box) rather its a definite trial and error process on getting the look you want….

   Dearest Alexis,
   What a beautiful and poignant piece you have written. No matter our age, no matter the lines, the wrinkles, we still see with the same eyes. You have been blessed with good genes so regardless when you look in the mirror there will always be beauty coming from within. About 10 years ago when a friend helped out after a surgery, I was feeling very old and certainly not very pretty. My friend gave me a small hand held antique mirror. She asked me what I saw when I looked in the mirror and I replied that I see a woman who is getting older. She said, yes you are getting older but your face and your heart are still beautiful and that whenever I was feeling unsure that I was to look in this mirror and see with the same eyes that I have seen with for all these years. In other words, accept who I was becoming…an older woman. Now I see my brother's eyes, my father's nose, my mother's wonderful genetic lineage that make up my face. I must say that I'm still content and I know that you will be too…perhaps I shall pass along my little mirror to you as it is magical.
   Keep writing dear Alexis…it is always wonderful to read what you are willing to share.

   I am absolutely loving the table setting ~ the interesting fish plates, the mix of clear and colored stems, the mix of flatware patterns {I'm guessing the piece on the far right is a fish knife?} all atop that stunning Marcel Cord mirrored table. You dish the best eye candy, Trish! I would love to try to recreate the look for a Thanksgiving table sans the fish and maybe use antique mirror panels as individual place mats. I can just imagine how the candle light would dance off that gorgeous table.

    “This entry has been getting a lot of visitors form the Philippines every June. I would be very interested to find out why.”Hehe. That’s simple: Because superstitious beliefs are very common — and I mean VERY common — here in the Philippines. From knocking on wood to knowing that changing or swapping seats in the dining room is bad mojo, to eating twelve grapes at the stroke of midnight of New Year’s Eve brings good luck, to whistling at night invites evil spirits, to crossing paths with a black cat which is actually a demon in disguise is dangerous, etc. we almost know it all. I guess out of great curiosity as to how superstitions work and if they should believe that sh** or not, they look on websites like these for information. And, as an atheist, I thought believing on Bigfoot and the Bermuda Triangle is bad enough lol. I recall buying a book named “Don’t Take a Bath on a Friday” that contains more than 80 pages of superstitious beliefs, including the one the title describes. Here’s what’s written in the back: “For better or worse, superstitions and folk beliefs have influenced the lives of generations of Filipinos. From brooding over broken mirrors to never taking a bath on a Friday, these deeply-rooted beliefs reveal much about the Filipino psyche.” — the mirror part is what I remember the most; poor sis got a scare of her life when she broke our (obviously antique) mirror lol.

    First off that kid needs an ass whooping. It seems like Shaun won't discipline her enough which is why she doesn't know any better. He also needs to know that you don't hate kids but his two year old is way out of line and that it's starting to affect your relationship.
